He attended at Berklee College of Music in Boston MA from which he graduated with B.D. in Music Theory/Performance.
At Berklee, he studied Music Theory including Harmony, Composing, Orchestral Arranging, Filmscoring and Conducting. In addition, he privately studied percussion with a legendary percussionist/instructor - Alan Dawson, while being involved with countless sessions with leading musicians such as Rodney Smith, Brock Avery, Victor Baily and Cecilia Smith. For the next six years, based on his multi-disciplined education in computer science and software development, as well as in composing, arranging and directing musical productions, Hasegawa directed a number of projects in developing specialized software programs as well as producing sound tracks and computer graphic animations, for major enterprises, a telecommunication firm and various TV/radio networks including Yamaha, NT&T, Tokyo Broadcasting System (TBS), Asahi Broadcasting, Fuji TV, Mazda, Toyota and the Japanese government.
In 1986, a short Documentary Film, "Man and the Space", he was filmscoring for was awarded and honored by Kohno Yohei, the director of the Domestic Affair Ministry, and the director of the Science and Technology Agency of the Japanese Government.
In 1987, he developed a music composing system based on Artificial Intelligence for Yamaha Corporation which was embedded in their consumer product lineups such as Clavinova and Portatone.
In 1992, he directed a project in building one of the first video conference systems for NT&T (Japan's government-funded largest telecommunication firm) and medical institutions across Japan.
Since the foundation of a MA based firm - Microworks Corporation in 1989, Hasegawa introduced a number of inventions to the field of Algorithmic Music Composition : an attempt of further study of music, using computer technologies. More Info.
In the recent years, he has been actively working on various joint venture business with companies in the northeastern US, as well as on his own music production projects, including a popular Organic Recipe site - Taste of Zen.
